If you are a small business owner, it’s probably a good bet that bookkeeping isn’t your cup of tea.

I also bet one of your GOALs is to have a life outside your business, which is probably another reason that you started on the path of entrepreneurship in the first place. Am I right?

You can either spend countless hours doing your own bookkeeping or there are people who can help you do your bookkeeping (like me). Whatever way you look at it, it’s a necessary component of running a successful business and I want to help you make that happen.

Good bookkeeping practices depend largely on the bookkeeping system you’ve set up. I am talking about more than just software or the lack of it.

The method and accuracy of data from your business records, regardless of whether it is manual or computerized, is fundamental for every small business, whether YOU the owner know it or not.

The Proper Accounting (Bookkeeping) System for your Small Business

Most small business owners don’t have time to spend looking for basic Canadian bookkeeping and tax information that may affect their businesses.

It’s important to understand that your accounting system will change and get more complex as your business grows.

Your businesses size, your structure, your industry, your internal control requirements will vary greatly, which means your system needs to be considered carefully.

Your system needs to be designed so it is easy to use and in such a way that you can understand it even if you don’t have bookkeeping experience.

In other words, your accounting system needs to serve you just as well as your bookkeeper, your accountant or the tax auditor.
